Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient therapy that involves applying pressure to points or reflexes on the feet or hands. The theory is that it can tap into the body’s own healing mechanism, releasing blocked energy, re balancing body systems and restoring equilibrium.

It is a holistic therapy which means it can affect the mind body and spirit – the whole person. However the effect that reflexology can have on a person is completely individual. No two people are the same.

Jean practises Gentle Touch TM Reflexology which has a light flowing approach with the focus being on comfort and relaxation.

So how could it help me?

Anecdotal evidence has shown that a course of reflexology can be especially effective for

It is important to understand that it is a complementary therapy, working alongside medical advice and not an alternative to seeking the guidance of your GP or consultant. A reflexologist cannot diagnose or claim to cure a condition.

The Treatment

During the initial treatment a short medical history is taken first to assess health and lifestyle, understand the client’s needs, and why they are interested in having reflexology. This is completely confidential. The treatment itself last for approximately one hour. Reflex imbalances are noted.

How will I feel after the treatment?

Some people feel energised, some people feel calmer. Some people feel very tired and sleep very well. For some people it takes a few treatments for them to feel any response. Some people feel off colour, or emotional which is a natural and positive response to the healing process, does not last beyond 24 hours and usually only happens on the first treatment if regular treatments are received.

How many treatments will I need?

Most reflexologists will advise a course of treatments to give the body a chance to respond. How long a course, depends on the individual’s needs and situation.

After their course of treatments some people choose to have a top up treatment now and again to maintain equilibrium.
