Reflexology
A reflexology treatment consists of gentle pressure applied to areas of the feet known as reflexes which correspond to different areas of the body. It is a holistic therapy treating the whole person and not just the physical body
Energy needs to run freely to every cell of our body. The stresses and strains of everyday life can cause us to hold tension which can interrupt the energy flow creating fatigue, mentally and physically. This can often lead to illness. By gently massaging the reflexes on the feet this blocked energy can be freed perpetuating energy flow once again. This can alleviate the symptoms of many conditions, give pain relief, and promote a tremendous feeling of well being
Reflexology can help a wide range of conditions by boosting the circulation, clearing neural pathways, helping the body to remove toxins, reducing inflammation and rebalancing the body processes.
| Arthritis | Cardiovascular conditions |
| RSI | High/low blood pressure |
| Migraines/persistent headaches | Stress/anxiety/depression |
| Irritable Bowel Syndrome | Fatigue |
| PMT/ menstrual disorders | Insomnia |
| Hormonal disorders | MS |
| Rebalancing after childbirth | ME |
Reflexology can strengthen the immune system, consequently, if regular treatments are received it can be an excellent preventative approach to health.
If it is the first treatment a short medical history will be taken so that Jean has knowledge of any medication being taken and can tailor her treatment plan to your particular needs. The information is completely confidential.
You will be seated in a comfortable reclining
chair with your feet wrapped in a warm towel.
Jean uses a blend of natural oils (not essential oil)
to massage the different reflexes on the feet.
The pressure on the foot is light and the emphasis
is on comfort and relaxation.
At the end of the treatment Jean will offer
you a glass of water. She will then talk
about the reflex areas she has identified to be
out of balance and which system or organ of
the body the reflexes correspond to.
It is important to emphasise here that Jean is not
a doctor and cannot medically diagnose.
Individual responses to reflexology are very different. Most people find they feel deeply relaxed and calm, others feel very energetic. Some need a few sessions before they feel the benefit. Some people feel "fluey" lethargic or tearful. This is a natural, positive reaction which is part of the healing process. It should last for 24 hours only.
